Winter Activities at and Around Jackson Gore

As a Jackson Gore owner, you already know the benefits of having a unit located directly at the base of Okemo Mountain. Your private Jackson Gore home away from home is literally at the base of the mountain, with world-class skiing and snowboarding just steps away. You and your family can literally ski-on and ski-off at your heart’s content. You have to admit, you’re experiencing the ultimate vacation lifestyle! Of course, that beautiful family-friendly mountain is just the beginning of your Winter vacation.

Okemo Valley Nordic Center
Located about a mile from Okemo Mountain Resort, off of Route 103 and north on Fox Lane. There are just over 13 miles of cross country trails. Do you like snowshoeing? Prepare to enjoy about 8 miles doing that, along with about 5 miles of tree skiing and skating lanes through beautiful scenery. There is something for all ability levels.
Timber Ripper Mountain Coaster

Located right at Okemo Mountain Resort, the Timber Ripper Mountain Coaster is a very popular four-season attraction that is perfect for the entire family. Fast and exciting, yet safe, the ride is a coaster that features one or two sled-like passenger cars riding on tubular tracks. Each car’s speed can be controlled by the passengers at all times and wind down a very scenic mountain side. Family members must be at least 3 years old and at least 36″ tall and ride with an adult. To ride alone, the rider must be at least 8 years old and 52″ tall.

The Ice House

Located at Jackson Gore, the Ice House is a year-round multi-activity sports pavilion. In the main building there is a 115 X 215-foot skating rink for use in Winter. A tennis court, basket ball court and single-lane jogging track can be enjoyed in Summer. The Ice House offers skate rentals. The skating surface is maintained with a ice resurfacing machine. The Ice House is open Thursday to Sunday, including holidays, at 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

The Firepit

A great and relaxing gathering spot, located in the Jackson Gore Courtyard. The place to unwind after a full day on the slopes.

Snow Tubing Park

Maybe put the skis and snowboard away for a little bit and enjoy snow tubing for a change. This slopeside tubing park is a perfect pastime for the entire family. The park features a 4-lane run and located just off the magic carpet in the courtyard at Jackson Gore. You can rent tubes by the hour but please note that children must be at least 42″ tall to ride and you must sign a waiver to participate. Children under 18 must have a parental signature. Tickets can be purchased at the Learning Center desk at Jackson Gore. Open Thursday through Sunday, 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Summer Activities at and Around Jackson Gore

While Winter at Jackson Gore seems to get all the glory, rest assured there is no shortage of Summer activities for the entire family to enjoy. The very terrain that makes the area one of the Northeast’s premier Winter destinations also make the Summer a great time to come.

The Timber Ripper Mountain Coaster
The Timber Ripper Mountain Coaster already mentioned is just as fun in the Summer. Just remember to leave your heavy coats at home!
The Adventure Zone
In addition, in the Summer months, the Adventure Zone offers fantastic things to do, such as Lumberin’ Cal’s Mini Golf, Sawyer’s Sweep Zipline Tour, tennis courts, a climbing wall, a championship-level 18-hole golf club and much more!
Fox Run Golf Club
It’s not all about skiing around here. In fact, the area is home to Fox Run Golf Club, a championship-level 18-hole golf club. Give it a try at:

Hiking and Cycling
Not surprising, there is no shortage of great area hiking and cycling. Visitors can break a sweat hiking while enjoying the great scenic views of the Black River Valley with easy access from the base of Jackson Gore’s. We’re talking about Okemo’s own trail network, right at your doorstep.
The Healdville Trail
The Healdville Trail ascends to Okemo Mountain’s 3,340 foot summit and provides a 5.9-mile round trip. We’re talking a half-day hike.
Area Mountain Biking
Area mountain biking is an incredible way to stay in shape. For more organized riding, The Okemo Valley Chamber of Commerce can provide a listing of bike tours in the area. For more information on area hiking and cycling, please visit the Okemo Valley Chamber of Commerce website.
Fishing
There is no shortage of great fishing spots in the area. Lake Pauline, Lake Rescue, Echo Lake, and Amherst are home to rainbow, brook, and lake trout, perch, bass, and pickerel and more along scenic Route 100. Also, rivers and streams such as Black, Williams and Ottauquechee are well worth trying your luck on. Do you enjoy rainbow and brown trout fishing? The Black River along Route 131 is where it’s at. Fishing season around here begins on the 2nd Saturday in April and runs until the last Sunday in October. Fishing licenses are required for everyone over 15 years old and can be purchased at local sporting goods stores, general stores and the Town Clerk’s offices. The West Hill Recreation Facility

Enjoy a sheltered picnic area, playground, sheltered picnic area barbecue grills, campground, hiking trails, horseshoes pits, playing fields, fishing area and an inline hockey rink. This is where to be to enjoy the Annual July 4th Celebration. For more information, call (802) 228-2655.

Ludlow Farmer's Market
Open every Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and located at the Okemo Mountain School on 53 Main Street (Route 103). Runs from beginning of June and goes to October. Call 802-228-5830 for more information.
Veteran's Memorial Park
The gorgeous Veteran’s Memorial Park is located on Route 103 and is one of the most photographed locations in Ludlow. Enjoy art shows, music concerts, tag sales, craft fairs, barbecues and much more. There are Summer lawn concerts on some Sunday evenings throughout the Summer. Bring your own char. Oh, and make sure you stop by sometime in august and attend the Vermont State Zucchini Festival.
The Spring House Fitness and Aquatic Center
The Spring House is an 18,000 square foot fitness and aquatic center located at Jackson Gore. It features a recreational pool, state-of-the-art fitness area and a variety of weekly health activities. Call (802) 228-1419 for more information.
Cavendish Trail Horse Rides
Guided horse trail rides along beautiful meadows are offered. Located on Twenty Mile Stream Road in Cavendish at Brook Farm, the site of Bates Mansion. About six miles from Okemo Mountain. Trail rides are available daily starting in mid May (weather permitting). There are even wagon rides available by reservation. Call (802) 226-7821 for more information.
